Guillermo's Ghost
In the 16th century, an alchemist invents a strange mechanism that allows access to eternal life. In present-day Mexico, Jesús Gris, an elderly antiques dealer, discovers the Cronos clock hidden inside a statue. The object injects him with a powerful venom that restores his strength and youth, but makes him dependent on human blood. Transformed into a monster, Jesús can only rely on the help of his granddaughter…

“Rosebud.” By uttering this enigmatic word on his deathbed, billionaire Charles Foster Kane seems to reveal the key to the mystery that was his life…
The Orson Welles film is generally considered the greatest American film of the sound period, and it may be more fun than any other great movie.
Pauline Kael
The camera is much more than a recording apparatus, it is a medium via which messages reach us from another world.

Guillermo's Ghost
When Carlos, a 12-year-old boy, is admitted to an orphanage after the execution of his father, a Republican, in 1939 Spain, he makes a horrid discovery by lifting the veil on the tragic secrets of the school.
Ghosts are more interesting when they have their reasons. They should have unfinished affairs of the heart or soul. The Devil’s Backbone, a mournful and beautiful new ghost story by Guillermo del Toro, understands that most ghosts are sad, and are attempting not to frighten us but to urgently communicate something that must be known so that they can rest.
Roger Ebert
This is not a good advert for Hollywood. Del Toro's poised and poignant ghost story contains more substance and is executed with more style than a half dozen Hollywood monster movies.

Doris Day & Rock Hudson
After listening to his doctor talk about another patient, George, a hypochondriac, becomes convinced that he is the one in the terminal stage. Believing he is about to die, George asks his friend Arnold to help him find a new husband for Judy, his wife. But George’s strange behavior leads Judy to suspect that he is having an affair with another woman…
It is a beautiful farce situation, and Julius Epstein has written it, from a play by Norman Barasch and Carroll Moore, with nimble inventiveness and style.
The New York Times
Jewison's cockeyed comedy works its romantic magic with the flighty entanglement of the Hudson-Day, charming-kooky connection.
Movie Eye
Probably the best of the Doris Day/Rock Hudson vehicles, extracting a surprising amount of black (though sugar-coated) comedy out of the situation in which hypochondriac Rock, mistakenly believing he is dying, thoughtfully tries to arrange a remarriage for his widow-to-be with an old flame.

During the Civil War, three men, more interested in their own gain than anything else, set out in search of a chest containing gold stolen from the Confederate army. Tuco knows the treasure is hidden in a cemetery; Joe knows the name inscribed on the tombstone that marks the cache. Each needs the other. But a third man enters the race: Sentenza, a brute who does not hesitate to kill to get what he wants…
Arguably the greatest of the spaghetti westerns, this epic features a compelling story, memorable performances, breathtaking landscapes, and a haunting score.
Rotten Tomatoes
It still looks a treat and is a bold and largely successful attempt to recast the traditions of the genre in a new, sometimes critical, almost operatic way.
Evening Standard
Of all the great films of the 1960s, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is one of a fistful that can be truly appreciated only on the big screen.

Cinematic Siblings
Teenagers Paul Bäumer and his friends Albert and Müller voluntarily enlist in the German army at the start of WWI, riding a wave of patriotic fervour that dissipates once they face the brutal realities of the front. Paul’s preconceptions about the enemy and the rights and wrongs of the conflict start to crumble…
A film that feels both aesthetically dazzling and full of necessary truths: an antiwar drama that transcends the bombast of propaganda because it’s so artfully and indelibly made.
Entertainment Weekly
