synopsis

In the 16th century, an alchemist invents a strange mechanism that allows access to eternal life. In present-day Mexico, Jesús Gris, an elderly antiques dealer, discovers the Cronos clock hidden inside a statue. The object injects him with a powerful venom that restores his strength and youth, but makes him dependent on human blood. Transformed into a monster, Jesús can only rely on the help of his granddaughter…

Nourri de multiples influences (le gothique de Bava, le corps métamorphe chez Cronenberg, et meme Romero, son vampire ayant les chairs putrescentes d’un zombie), Cronos impressionne par sa maîtrise plastique et ses effets. Son charme indéniable tient aussi a sa mélancolie et a l’hybridation des genres.
