synopsis

Un couple de personnes âgées d’un petit village se rend à Tokyo pour rendre visite à leurs enfants adultes. Leur fils, médecin, et leur fille, coiffeuse, n’ont pas beaucoup de temps à consacrer à leurs parents âgés. Il revient donc à la veuve de leur fils cadet, tué pendant la guerre, de tenir compagnie à ses beaux-parents.

 

 

In this exquisite merging of specific and universal, infinite and infinitesimal, Tokyo Story perhaps most clearly illuminates that Ozu is not the most Japanese of filmmakers, but the most human.
